Century Record For O’Sullivan

ROS

It has been on the cards for some time, but today was the day that Ronnie O’Sullivan surpassed Stephen Hendry’s career total of 775 century breaks, as the Rocket hit number 776 during his quarter-final victory against Marco Fu at the Dafabet Masters.

There was a lot of expectation as to whether the one ton that he needed would come during today’s match and Ronnie wasted little time, compiling a break of 101 in the very first frame, to move clear in top spot of the all-time century break makers.

With no other contenders within striking distance at this time, it would now seem likely that O’Sullivan will hold on to the record for at least another decade, with the likes of Judd Trump and Ding Junhui perhaps next best placed to challenge him if they can maintain their form during the coming years.

That is not to say though that O’Sullivan will stop there, as he has spoken recently of his desire to one day bring his tally to 1,000 century breaks.

Can he do it?
