Scotsman takes early lead in semi-final clash

Graeme Dott produced an impressive display against title favourite Mark Selby to open up a 5-3 lead in their Betfred.com World Championship semi-final. The Scot scored breaks of 79, 53, 70, 50 and 93 to build his advantage, but Selby took the final frame of the night with a clearance of 142 to finish on a high note. Selby was slightly flat for the majority of the session, perhaps still recovering from his stunning fightback against Ronnie O'Sullivan on Wednesday. An interruption came in the seventh frame when, in the midst of a safety battle, Selby made a toilet break. Unruffled, Dott saw the funny side and went on to win the frame with his run of 93. Selby's display was below-par until the final frame, when his form returned as he made the first century of the match, which has only been beaten in this tournament by a 146 from Mark Allen. Heading into the match, Selby said: "We're playing for our careers and our lives out there but you have to treat it like any other match really. "Somebody like myself, I've been to the final but I've not taken that extra step to pick up the trophy."
